Testimonials

"I have been working with Stephen Kilshaw for over 3 years and continue to be inspired, challenged, surprised, and learn more about myself every week. There are many coaches that can offer athletic advice and provide organized workouts. In my opinion there is only one that can provide the perfect balance of body and mind. From the moment you first meet Stephen you can feel a different energy.  One of the most important factors in being coached is trusting the person coaching you. Stephen impressed me enough the first time I met him to commit myself to follow his program 100%. In the next 3 years I developed as an athlete and achieved far more success than I ever imagined for myself. Most important to me however is that I am stronger and faster than I have ever been, yet know that I will continue to improve. My love of the sport persists and Stephen was the best decision that I ever made in regards to coaching. Steven's  training program is extremely efficient, maximizing time by emphasizing skill development along with strength and endurance. I’ve become consistently stronger and faster while avoiding injury, and have done so while maintaining a training load that allows me to live a full life.  He is inspiring, knowledgeable, and passionate about this sport and his clients.  I could not be happier with the results that I have gotten from Stephen.   I have dropped almost an hour off my Half Ironman time, I am consistently in the 5hr range.  I have taken almost 2 and half hours off my Ironman time.  Stephen has made me very competitive in my age group for Ironman races, and I am going for a Kona spot in my next race.   I can not thank Stephen enough for all that he has done for me.  I am very excited about the future and what it holds."  - Jason

"I truly enjoy and value being coached by Stephen.  He is an excellent listener and I know that the Ironman program he designed for me was FOR ME.  This was my 11th Ironman race and I appreciated that it wasn't a cookie-cutter program that was cut and pasted into my plan - there was a focus for each week and I never experienced mental or extreme physical fatigue.  The program took quite a different approach compared to past programs and I entered race day with confidence and a calmness knowing that I was prepared.  Stephen was an excellent communicator and even though he was also racing the same event, he took the time to meet up with us before the race to fine tune the final mental plan and sharpen the mental outlook.  I feel I am quite lucky to have him as my coach and look forward to more coaching from him." - Carla

TREVOR "It has been such an honor to train with Steve for my race at Ironman Mont-Tremblant '16. The first phone call was a few hours long.  He took the time to really get to know me and understand where I was at in my training.  His approach is nothing short of being "person-centered" and I say this because his training plans are not prescriptive, but rather in consultation with his athlete. He told me to think of this as a partnership, not a dictatorship and to contact him absolutely anytime I needed to discuss the training plan.    Within the first few weeks, Steve had a good understanding of my work shift rotation, family responsibilities and every other area of life that training could impose.  My training plans were one week blocks and we discussed the previous week to determine how the next week would look.  I was provided a one year guide of what phases we should be in of the training and the milestones to achieve.  I found this very helpful to understand what I was working towards, in Steve's words "we are building the machine".  Looking back over this last year I would not change a thing, which is a strong statement from me because I constantly evaluate everything that I do.  Aside from being a great coach/mentor, he is an incredible athlete.  Steve's been successful as a pro but you would never know unless you recognized him or seen him on the podium.  I say this because the day after our race in Quebec we went to the banquet and sat at a random table with the other age group athletes.  When it was time for him to go to the podium our table was shocked because they had no idea they were sitting with one of the top pros in the sport we all love.  The reason I bring this up is because Steve carries himself in such a modest manner.  You will never hear him brag about his accomplishments or criticize others in the sport.   Steve has inspired me to push harder and keep pursuing my dreams as a triathlete.  I would highly recommend him as a coach and feel any sponsor would be lucky to have him represent their brand.  This man is a class act and will continue to climb the pro field in the years to come!" - Trevor
